Anyone else see this? Anyone see they said she threw a screwball at 66mph with 38-39 spin? If that data is true. Wow can anyone confirm? Anyone see this kid pitch?

Yes...we know her personally. Her mom is a pitching coach. She's a very special player. Very fantastic kid and family. They play for Beverly Bandits 14u...even though she's an 05. She really is that good. She is very physically mature as well as mentally tough. Family visited several schools and worked hard to try and make sure they were doing the right thing. I hope things work out for her... fingers crossed.

I think it's great too. Unicorns exist and I don't like all the negative talk about being young. FB response seems to be mostly negetive on the two 7th graders that chose "F". Good for you. Hope Florida dreams come true.

I truly hope everything works out for her. That said, I had a pitcher at 12U that was throwing 62MPH at 12U. She generated an AWFUL LOT of interest from college coaches. At first year 14U she was throwing 65MPH as measured by college coaches and was offered. She accepted. Second year 14U she blew out her shoulder and since her shoulder surgery, is now pitching in the mid 50's. The offer was rescinded and since she never developed any off-speed pitches due to her mother (former college pitcher who said she didn't need them) and her PC who pretty much followed mom's advice, she can't/won't get picked up by anyone now. All of the college coaches just pretty much walk by her at camps and clinics. Just a cautionary note to all those that think speed is everything.

However, it doesn't sound like this is the case for this young lady. Again, I hope all of her dreams come true in the end.

Any idea what lead to her shoulder surgery, too much pitching, poor mechanics, freak accident? That really stinks for the young girl.

Good luck to the young lady that verballed to Florida. Hope she has a very successful softball career.

It was a combination of poor mechanics (more pushing the ball versus whip) and overuse that led to it. Every coach she played for, with the exception of myself, pitched this girl almost every game. That's why they moved on after three tournaments with my team. The reason given was not enough circle time. I had her pitching about 60% of the games in a tournament which is already too much at that age, IMO. The truth was a combination of that but more the Momma had to make sure her DD was "THE STAR" of the team and the spotlight had to be shown solely on her which didn't happen when my catcher was averaging 1-2 OTF HR's every other game.

Can you post the name of the organization this pitcher played for?
