Have had my ball coach for almost 3 years. I've always used rechargeables...but rarely use in CON mode. Mine has rarely thrown a "bad" reading and I use it frequently. Bad batch? Lol....maybe why they were dumping them at a $100 discount for Black Friday.

Pardon me for the silly question but why would you run it for an entire game? A go pro is pretty obvious but radar for every single pitch seems like a waste alkaline. Gotta be something I’m missing?

Not a silly question at all. It may be excessive at times, but that's why we use rechargeables. Swap after a game and recharge when you get home; nothing lost, really. We use a second GoPro to record the screen of the Pocket Radar. Then, when syncing with the primary video, we can see pitch speed, bat exit speed, and speed of throw down to second.

This is an old video, and of baseball (I don't have any recent pocket radar video online), but shows an example of what I'm talking about:

Hi Josh. Do you have a picture of that whole setup? I really like that video!

I can try to put something together to show you. It was pretty janky what I did here. We use 1 LynkSpyder for the primary GoPro and 1 for the PocketRadar/Secondary GoPro, as you can see from the shadow (because we have inventory). Ultimately, you could put it all on 1 bracket, which we have done before...but it looks like the Back to the Future DeLorean.

Thanks, I should have looked at the shadows (I missed that lol). Might have to get a GoPro session to record the my pocket radar while using the hero 5 for the normal video.

I wanted to help explain about the battery life questions. The "Con" mode does burn through the batteries much faster than the Manual mode.
With a high quality set of Duracell or Energizer Alkaline batteries in a Ball Coach Radar you should get over 2000 readings when you use the manual button push mode. If you are in the Con mode it will go about 1 hour. With Rechargeable NiMH batteries then you get about twice the life of the good Alkaline batteries if you have a fresh charge. So 2 hours in Con mode with the rechargeable batteries. If you need more battery life than that you should look into the new Smart Coach Radar where we added a micro-USB power port so you can use a portable USB power pack to run the radar for over 40 hours straight on the larger packs and over 6 hours on the small round power packs. If you ever have any problems or questions about a Pocket Radar brand product, please call us on our toll-free support line at 888.381.2672 weekdays from 9 AM to 5 PM Pacific Time. Thanks,
Chris Stewart / President, Pocket Radar Inc.
