Ideal hand and ball position at 12:00?

What's the ideal hand position at 12:00? Does it matter? Is it style? Does one position promote IR and whip better?
BM is showing the ball with palm behind.

Sarah is completely different with her palm under and some extension in the wrist.

Also, in case you're wondering why she might practice the drill with ball facing the sky like that, (I'm only guessing) perhaps because it helps exaggerate the rotation of the wrist?

Since my dd started learning IR, we've always done this same drill exactly like Sarah does. I'd never once thought about why, I just figured if it was good enough for Pauly, it's good enough for us. When watching slow motion of DD pitching, the ball points towards catcher naturally, I'm not even sure she could replicate that slingshot position in full motion if she tried.

One thing to note is that Rick has often said to ignore Sarah's strange wrist cup at certain positions when he uses her as an example. He says it isn't something to be taught and is something she developed in her own personal style.

Really, you can't go wrong using the mantra "Show it, throw it", meaning at 12:00 you should show the ball to the catcher. Like BM in the example above.

Over the years I've seen variation in Sarah's 12 o'clock hand/ball position......some may be a factor of what pitch she is throwing and some may just be mechanical variation. This pic is probably typical of her hand position at 12 o'clock.
