DW found a new PC for DD. We are very limited in a rural area so I was willing to give it a try. Within the first 5 minutes I knew she was HE and considered walking out. However she asked why DD released the way she did. After explaining the concept she agreed with it and has not tried to change it. She has actually identified DD major issues which is dropping arm behind her back causing her to block herself out and either she throws way inside or throws around and misses way out. PC also identified she glove swims and we all know that causes over rotation of the shoulders. I feel like she is helping a lot. Her main focus is body control and synchronizing. Given she has grown 7" in 1 year it has been a problem. I guess the question is has anyone had success with HE coaches who are willing to allow IR as this coach is?

It's great that she is willing to try and adapt. The unfortunate part is that she is learning on your dime and DD's time. I hope it works out for your DD.

7" in a year. Wow!!! What are you feeding her? Miracle Grow????? :D:)

Yeah I'm amazed how much she has grown. Other than the loss of body control it's been great. Basketball has been good so far. Lol.

Is this what your referring to? If so I would be extra careful not to let PC coach some of the good things out of your dd.

Exactly it is only a PROBLEM if she is looping her arm around her hip and not letting the natural brush occur.

This is exactly what is happening. It's almost as if she is intentionally moving her arm behind her to create the brush and not letting it occur naturally with a proper arm circle and body position. In fact during 9:00 drills not only can I see the ball but most of her forearm behind her back from a catchers perspective.

This is one of those have to see it things. If she is getting brush it hard to envision what you are talking about, unless her drive mechanics with her front arm are really odd. The problem I was talking about involves the arm swinging around the hip and not having any brush, "throwing around your hip"

DJ I believe what you are explaining is what happens. I think the hips fire back too soon and the arm is too far behind her back. Either she thows way inside or its obvious that she swings around her hip as I can see the separation and throws way outside. This has never been a problem until her growth spurt. While it's great that she is throwing much harder than ever I think she has lost upper versus lower body synchronization. I will try to get video of both examples.
