I'm from Kentucky. Good luck finding a coach that teaches IR. I haven't been able to find one. Every coach around here looks at me like I'm crazy. DD's new team just brought in a pitching coach to help out. She pitched at a D1 school here. When I was showing her how my DD pitches she looked at me like I'm crazy and gave me that look. I informed coach after practice that we will take care of our own pitching.

I'm not sure IR is a term you will hear much outside of a few places. I would ask more questions like the things Ken B posted. Where should the ball be at 9 oclock, should the arm be bent, should we push the ball down through release or be pulling it down or what should the upper arm be doing at release, what should the follow through look like. Getting the answers to these question instead of just asking do you teach IR or HE will probably give you a better understanding of what kind of pitching coach you are getting. Funny thing is if you can find video of her pitching in a game probably a 75%+ chance she pitches much closer to IR than what she is actually teaching (although believe it or not there are some HE pitchers pitching D1)

what is internal rotation? hoe does it differ from hello elbow?

I would suggest a three step process.

1. Video your DD from a few different angles the way she pitches right now. From side for sure but back and front can be helpful too.
2. Read and watch all the videos suggested by the posters here, so you can understand what posters on here will be discussing...IR in the classroom sticky for sure!
3. Post the video of your DD

The only thing you will get on this board is a very technical dissection of what she can do to improve...then you can take everyone's input and decide for yourself what you want to focus on.

Was recently told by a very well know d1 pitcher that I was teaching my daughter wrong and her coaches and trainers agreed. She was very kind about it but definitely did not agree with the IR thread logic. I see it in all the high level pitchers though so I will stay against the grain for sure. Pm me for exact wording she used.

They can say whatever they want but the video does not like. I would simply ask if they could name say three pitchers that they think are good examples your DAD could emulate (if possible find game footage of pitcher/coach making statement. You don't have to be a snob and argue just let them know next time you examined the video evidence and it is all consistent with what you are teaching.

Fastpitch power, forearm fire, does not teach brush. He teaches to have a clear “runway” for the pitching arm to the catcher. If you’ve dealt with the butt out disease you know how important brush is
