One of the worst investment was arming DH with a radar gun. At first it was nice to get a random reading to see how she was doing...DD was cruising around 52-54. Then DH became obsessed...we had to bring the gun all the time. I would deliberately not take to only get a lecture about why it was purchased. He scolds her at every pitch that isn't as fast. I have tried talking to him but he gets defensive...his defensive mode turns into insulting DD. Now, her speed is down...she is trying even harder....which is making it worse. He is pushing her even harder, changing something almost every time she practice. He says she should be at 60 now. DD even told him that he is making it not fun with the constant lecturing. She wants it to be the way it used to be before the dreaded pocket radar gun was purchased.

Some things accidently get lost or hit by a sledgehammer.

If someone is clocking a pitcher every practice, IMO it is foolish.

I am a believer of 1 step back, 2 steps forward.

Does not happen in a week.

Younger kids can get better reaaly fast, older players it takes a little time.

DD is working hard not only with the pitching but also batting/slapping and doing strength and power training 2-3 times a week with DH...and doing conditioning training/stretching/foam rolling 2xs a week with me.
It is a lot and I believe she is overtraining.

Sounds like DH needs a timeout :) Tell him he will enjoy the games a lot more sitting past the LF fence armed with a bag of sunflower seeds as opposed to behind homeplate armed with a radar gun.....

The problem wasn't the radar gun...the problem was your DH's obsession with it.

I bought one this year but rarely use it. Found it stressed dd out to much. We use it mainly to check her changeup speed. Really seems to help trying to slow it down. I'll check her here or there in a game when I know she doesn't know I'm using it.

In games he rarely brings it out. When he does, interestingly he gets the fastest readings. It is when she is practicing, that he has me clock her constantly. At first I thought it was me that caused the lower readings...When she knew she was being clocked by other people, her speed was lower. Even when she knew college coaches were in the stands scouting her, speed was off.
