She is 12 and has been a slow but steady project.

Her body position looks great. She has the hand behind the ball at 12. She is struggling to keep her hand under the ball at 9, which creates some problems later on.

Her problem is that she is "late on the forearm pronation." This is causing her hand to end up above her head.

This is the drill she needs to be doing. Notice the arm position at the end.

Also, she should do Boardmember's lock it drill. Here is a description and an explanation:

A lot to like; if you don't get some more inputs I'll try and get more detailed. But slugger is onto it. Just kinda seems really forced and unnatural from about 10 oclock on. I really don't see alot of IR here. watch the video suggested by sluggers also maybe go in the IR in the classroom sticky and find the backward chaining video from javasource.

I don't usually chime in on these threads because I'm not a PI but I do notice some Tincher student signatures on your dd. You'll never see a student who's spent any time with Tincher (or his instructors) who extends and locks the glove hand and swims out with it. Nicely done.

It does look like she cheats to get open by pushing off with the instep of her pivot foot instead of off the balls of her feet like a sprinter coming out of the blocks would. My dd did that a few years ago and Denny started doing a drill with her where he had her pick her pivot foot up completely from the rubber when she started her pitching motion and then step down and pitch. Yes, it's an illegal pitch in a game but the idea was to make it so she didn't have time to slide her foot over to the instep and pitch, she could only push off straight ahead. The drill was called "step and go" or something like that, your instructor should either be familiar with it or can ask Denny about it.

Otherwise, I like the BM lock it drill a little better than the above linked video, just seems more likely to directly address what your looking to fix without messing with her arm circle which is nice, long and loose as it is. Perhaps checking out the front-side resistance sticky would be helpful too as it appears she's loosing some leverage there.

Your dd looks a lot like my dd did at 12u, all arms and legs and maybe 30lbs soaking wet. We had a couple of years where it was hard to find travel teams where she could get enough pitching time in because coaches wanted to pitch bigger girls who could throw harder. It didn't help either that my dd had a late fall birthday. Keep plugging away, your dd will have to learn to be a pitcher first rather than a thrower and will emerge as a better pitcher as a young adult for it.

Some good things going on, and I'm not an expert but I don't see any weight transfer, looks like it starts all on the front foot?

Yes Dusty, yes has taken lessons from a Tincher instructor. You are also correct on the early turn out of the pivot foot, we have struggled with it for a while. I like the step and go idea, we will try it. IR still has a ways to go as well. Everything she does looks unnatural and force dj :D . Bless her heart, she went to 6 years of gymnastics and can barely do a cartwheel. Here is where she was 10 months ago.

Progress has been made but there is more to go.

Thanks for the help so far.
