We are playing in the tournament and it has been great. I know I am going to catch crap for this but we clocked the girl from Power Surge at 60,60,61,62, and 57. If you don't believe me come to Huntington Beach and look up the Power Surge. Now the girl is as big as I am but that speed at 35 feet is super impressive. Clocked with a pocket radar that was also checked with car speed inside and outside to make sure it was accurate! By the way the girl can also hit like a Mack truck!!!

I'm rooting hard for the Fury 2024. I've been watching them in awe all year. The coach seems like such a class act from the things I see on FB, too. They are so impressive. I love that so far, the teams from the SE are mostly representing pretty well. I know they're not very deep into bracket yet though. My DD is a pretty good pitcher 'round these parts and she's mid to high 40s. I've seen two 10U pitchers break 50 mph on my own pocket radar, both right at 50. It's so hard to imagine one that age in the 60s! Not that I don't believe you, I do. I just can't imagine. I know our girls could never hit that speed right now.

Is anybody hitting this pitcher? Some of the worst skills mismatches I have ever seen are at the younger levels. As the girls get older, there generally seems to be a better sorting process so that good pitchers are facing good batters. Although my daughter is a pitcher, I find that I prefer games where she gives up hits that can be fielded by good fielders. I love good shortstops these days.

^^^Agreed. At 10's DD's team had a pitcher (who coincidentally is guest playing for Tennessee Fury 2024 this year) that could smoke the batters. The fielders had very few chances to make plays because this girl threw so hard no one could get ahold of one of her pitches. She played up to a 12s tourney last year and the girls on DD's team had no problem hitting her.

Sounds like it just has a lot to do with hitting puberty early (also assuming she is 11 and close to cutoff age), along with of course a great amount of effort and skill.

You see it really bad at 10s and 12s. Same thing with boys every year when I watch the LLWS on TV it amazes me when some 12 yr old steps up to the plate dwarfing the ump and is listed at 5ft 10 in and 180 lbs.

But just as with the guys give it a couple years and the other girls will start to get bigger and better and then well...the faster they come in...

Really? I saw the HC of Fury say they have no guest players with them out there. Same roster as December, he said.

^^^I may have misspoke. She may well be rostered with them now. She has definitely been playing with them for a couple months. She used to guest play with teams from Texas to CA to Tennessee all the time. Maybe she finally settled in with one team.

Saw one girl hit off one up the middle on her. There are definitely some hitters at this tournament should be fun to watch.

DD used to play on the team that became the Vipers 06 so I'm cheering for them too. She's also picked up with Impact 06 & has played with most of those girls. Really though I'm cheering for all the SE teams. I get tired of hearing about how all the good softball is in CA ;) COME ON SOUTHEAST! I just think it'd be really cool if our teams could knock out some of the CA and TX ones.
