Can anyone explain the Tincher Method of pitching and what are its advantages and disadvantages?

My catcher DD catches for her teammate's pitching lesson. Her teammate is learning the Tincher Method. My other DD is now serious about becoming a pitcher. As I understand it Tincher was designed for shorter girls to help them overcome the disadvantage they have being shorter. My pitching DD is near the 75 percentile, so height is not an issue for her.

All I know is Denny taught his daughter this method and she had some amazing career highlights.

Thanks

My DD does Tincher. It isn't for shorter pitchers. Carly Hoover of LSU was a Tincher student and she's 6'2". From my unprofessional opinion, it's just IR with some good marketing.

There is only one correct way to pitch. It doesn't matter if the kids is 5'0" or 6'3".

Denny teaches the "correct way to pitch". He teaches internal rotation, front side resistance, posture and drive mechanics. He calls the whole thing "Fluid Dynamics". I prefer to call it "the correct way to pitch". But, each to his own, said the farmer when he kissed his cow.

From all accounts, Denny is a good teacher--meaning (a) he knows how to communicate with his students the specifics of pitching and (b) he knows to analyze kids to determine the needed areas of improvement. He uses different terminology than what we use here.

He did not invent a method of pitching. He has a systematic method to teach the correct way to pitch. He does good work.

Denny is in the same league as Rick Pauly, Java, Boardmember, Riseball, Bill Hillhouse, Sparky and some other PCs here. They all teach "the correct way to pitch".

My only quibble with Denny is that he seems to take credit for his DD's success--which seems odd to me. Becoming "good" at anything is more up to the individual than to the teachers.

My DD was a good D1 pitcher. Sparky and Rise's DDs were better pitchers than my DD. Rick's DD was a great pitcher, perhaps better than Denny's DD. But, I've never heard of any of them take credit for their DD's accomplishment...it doesn't work that way. In truth, the kid makes herself "good" at pitching. A coach is helpful, but a coach can't put in, either physically or mentally, what God left out.

DD has been with Tincher for 2 years now( Jonathon Hon certified instructor) and it has been nothing but good. Seen Denny a few times at camps, but slugger is correct the kid has to put in the work.

I've been wanting to try one of the Tincher teachers around here but none of them are very close to home.

We have been with a "tincher instructor" in Atlanta. She is outstanding. We started with her because we knew that anyone associated with Tincher pitching would have a philosophy that emphasized IR and was in line with Hillhouse and others on this Board and what we were observing on TV in high level games.

He certifies his pitching coaches. What we call IR here and I would guess thier personality too.

I am sure there is a bad one out thier but I have only heard good things.

Yes. In order to get certified you have to do like 200+ hours (don't quote me on the hours) of instruction training under his supervision. It's a really intensive vetting process. He also has trainers at his disposal so if you have any soreness or feel something weird you tell your instructor and they have drills and exercises to strengthen weaker areas. Of course, they charge out the wazoo for hourly lessons.

Few years ago DD had a couple lessons with pitching coach that had some cancelationsuccess or something. DD like her so I called up to set something up for the Winter. I was told no, she is booked all winter.

Got me thinking they might not charge enough. :)

Sluggers hit the nail on the head. My DD's were struggling with the local instruction before I learned about DFP. I got one of the Tincher certified Instructors names from DFP, and took both of them to him. He did wonders for my DD's, but not because of some sorcery. They just teach the right way. My DD's have also seen Denny at a few camps. He has a very good eye for seeing flaws, and fixing them quickly, as I'm sure most of the guys Sluggers listed do as well.
