I asked this on another forum and was hoping for some feedback. The city of the school I coach for sponsors a yearly mens fastpich tournament. (Hillhouse's team won this year.) Obviously some of these teams are local so I am wondering about asking a pitcher or two to help my pitchers. My girls (7th and 8th grade) are all learning IR, so would it help or hurt?

Tough to say. There are lots of really good pitchers out there, but only a handful that can teach the basics well. I'd definitely say that a one day clinic would be good for the girls to see some demo, hear about the men's game, tactics and maybe some training ideas. Then, if you like what you see, invite them/him out to do some weekly work with your kids.

Gotta say, I've spent a LOT of time chatting with instructors from here, there and everywhere--and have found that being a good pitcher doesn't necessarily make one a good instructor. I think the ideal instructor is one with high level experience as a pitcher, but it just doesn't happen that you find those perfect folks much...

I've repeatedly heard the "cry" that men's mechanics are different and should not be taught to female pitchers.
Here is my opinion based on coaching both females and U12 thru U19 Men.......other then the crowhop which seems to be legal in the men's game the rest of the foundation mechanics are the same:
Posture, Arm Whip, Internal Rotation, and Brush. Additionally, the release actions for the various movement pitches are identical. So if a male pitcher teaches these foundations and can teach a legal leap and drag then they should be ideal pitching instructors.
