I did not know it at the time but we were playing the undefeated 1st place team. We are about .300.

DD pitched the entire game, unusual for our Team. Normally 3 pitchers each game.

We lost 5-4 in 7th inning.

Apparently coaches and some parents started giving DD advice as game went on and was close. Favorite was parent told coach and they ran with it.

Open your hips, close your hips, hand is wrong release.

Leave her alone. :)

Had an umpire do that the other night. Guy was a successful high school coach for 30 years and is now an NAIA assistant. Nice guy, means well, very successful BUT still teaches HE and was trying to convert an IR to HE. Everybody on this board knows how big of no-no that is

Sideline coaches - ugh! Ever notice that they have nothing to say when the pitcher is throwing strikes and getting batters out? It's only the occasional balls in the dirt that prompt the "coaching" even though the player is using the same mechanics - just didn't execute as well.

I'm with ya - leave her alone!

Our team parents are mostly great, but we have some grandparents that come that crack me up. I think they think the goal of the pitcher is to throw strikes right into the zone the entire game. So if there is a low DB or CU they will encourage the pitcher "just bring it up a little" or similar if it is a riseball that they don't swing at. Actually as long as the batter is swinging and missing they cheer, but they don't understand a waste pitch at all. Then if the pitcher comes back with a striker closer to the middle and gets a swinging strike then you hear "YEAH!! just like that!! Keep throwing that!!" haha it's hilarious. Like really that worked once but if she did that again we'd have a home run derby.

I like this mom.

Batter fouls off first 2-3 pitches, then takes balls 1-2-3. Mom yells to pitcher "Just throw it right down the middle. She's not swinging!"

my dd is at the plate, we have played this team a dozen times it seemed. Several tournies together and they were in the same league as us. Tied score, or we were down by one, bases loaded 3-0 count, my dd has had success against this pitcher before.
Mom - throw it down the middle she isn't swinging, she is afraid to
my dd- looks at 3rd base coach
third base coach gives her the nod
next pitch is right down the middle. Line drive off the fence, 3 runs score. One of my top most satisfying moments in softball.

DD played for our local 18u Rec team. She's 14 and wanted the extra circle time. Coaches are nice but don't know the game. Luckily they have a catcher who is a D2 commit and knows how to call pitches. DD's change is very good but most times the girls we play against can't hit the FB.
When the count is 1-2 C will call a CU and the girl will hit a pop up to short or a weak fly ball to center and the coaches start freaking out on her.
Why are you calling a CU.. they hit it.. They don't understand that it's fine to get some contact on the CU. The catcher looks at my kid and shrugs her shoulders. LOL

First game of the tournament this weekend, DD was behind the plate catching for our arguably #1 pitcher, who is the most talented, non-practicing, natural athlete I have ever seen. No exaggeration. But sometimes her control is an issue (big surprise right?) until she settles in. So the first inning, pitcher is throwing everything in the dirt. I mean most of them are rolling in. DD is working her guts out blocking these 57mph+ worm burners that are coming in all over the place. Finally after walking the first 3, the pitcher gets them up out of the dirt by a few inches so DD can actually catch them in her glove, but still way out of the strike zone down around the batter's ankle bone. Pitcher's mom yells out to DD "Frame those up for her!". Usually I can ignore her, but not this time. I turned to her and said "Hey, don't coach my kid and I won't coach yours". Not my finest moment, but she drives me insane.
