A thread was started which named children and posted videos of the children.

You can't do it.

Any questions?

That is a good rule.

I stayed out of that thread, and from the beginning I thought it was very distasteful to be talking about children/young woman the way people were.

I think it's distasteful to criticize college players as well.

Most college softball players had at least one High School classmate that went to fight for our security in a foreign land. Some come back missing limbs or draped in a flag. At what point do you feel that young adults that opt to play a college sport should grow up and no longer need a safe space from words that may hurt their feelings?

I was thinking about this last night.

Entire game players and opposing coaches were giving DD a hard time. Yelling in downswing what not.

She left game and there was something said immediately to opposing team when our next P had to deal with it.

I am not sure how to deal with it, DD knows she is on her own.

Not sure if that is correct way to do it.

Being arrested in parking lot is probably a bad idea, come bail me out.

If you are on national TV, I do think some criticism is allowed.

It can get out of control sometimes, thanks for sluggers, Amy and Ken controlling it a little bit anyways.

Crap like that is bush league...and drives me nuts. Cheer for your own team if you want to make a bunch of noise. If
that happened 25-30 years ago when I played baseball somebody would have been drilled (which isn't right either I admit..just
saying what would have happened..)

I would keep in mind that they are amateur (student) athletes and not professional athletes. Certainly if they do something illegal they are open to criticism from the media and fans but short of that everyone should be mindful.

No one is saying that student athletes shouldn't be held accountable for their actions by their coaches and universities. I am specifically speaking about criticism by media and fans on amateur student athletes. I don't know that they need a safe space but they certainly don't need the crap that is being said at games, on radio, and on social media.

Those are just my sensibilities though. Now if it's your job and you are being paid that's just a part of it...

I am sure this point would never be raised with respect to the men playing college Football or Baseball. I would keep in mind that they are not minor children, they are adults. Nothing more, nothing less. They are public figures, not little snowflakes playing HS/TB ball. Their professional or amateur status is a moot point.

I think you are all correct.

I also can see that "for the purposes of THIS site, here are the rules" is a guideline that I can appreciate.

I was glad to see that thread go for more than one reason. It got sideways quick.
