I don't know if this will be of any encouragement but my DD didn't start pitching until the last couple games of 10u rec ball and it was ugly I have gone back and see pics and videos and can't believe we let her go in the circle. Then was one of 2 pitchers the next year at 12u and was all over the place every weekend. If someone asked how the game was it was usually described in how many pitches went over the catchers head and how many bounced in the dirt. We were just happy if the pitch ended up somewhere that the catcher could get the ball more or less locate. Fast forward 4 years and she now pitched 3 1/2 games this past weekend and even a couple rise balls that got away from her the catcher could still snag and the ones in the dirt were changes or drops that were ok to hit there. Maybe 2 wild pitches in 18 innings. Just the moral of this story is you can have humble beginnings and sooner or later things will be clicking if you follow the great advice above. Even if your DD isn't a phenom at 10 like some it's not too late by ANY means! I'm pretty sure Cat Osterman started at 11. Lots of practice and work on posture and mechanics and she can only get better, just don't expect it over night :)

Thank you all again. We had a good chat before her game and cleared the space between her ears. She pitched well. More importantly, she was dancing on the mound and having fun. There is a ton of valuable information here in this post. I hope others can use it, as well as us.
