I like a pool noodle to stop leaning, plus side is you can wack them with it too.

I wished I bought a pitching mat earlier.

Best pitching tool was putting up a trap and a handful of balls, DD could pitch anytime she wanted.

We got one when we were focusing on brush. I do think it was helpful for a limited time & purpose. We used it over the course of about a month, then didn't use it anymore after that. Actually if I can find it i need to sell it, I doubt we'll ever use it again at this point.

We use the folded duck tape on the leg. It works well, especially for younger pitchers. Only use it periodically, but I like it.

I second the pitching mat and tarp/net/mattress/blanket/etc.

Pool noodles are also good for sword duels at team parties:

I'd suggest the kids wear helmets.

IMHO, when used correctly, this is one of the greatest tools out there. That's why I carry them in my store. The trick is knowing what they're for and how to use them.

#1. they are not made to pitch with in practice. you cannot see or feel if your hand hits the flag. It should be done in front of a mirror so the girl can see for herself if she's either away from her body at release or if she's closing hips too soon.

The original maker of this, Mike Fairchild, used to falsely advertise about how a girl could feel the flag on this part of her hand for this pitch, another part for another pitch, etc. What a bunch of BS and I told him so. It's supposed to be used to correct mechanics not for pitches. If you go to the windmill trainer's website, there is instruction on what and how to use it, partially by your's truly.

I've used those flaps for proximity in the past... but I just give them away now.

Like Bill suggests, there are some really bad ideas with this... I really like using a miiror...

My updated list of pitching must haves:

Regulation Balls, couple with darkened seams
Glove and shoes
Notebook
Catcher or Backstop (preferably the former)
Mirror at home
Video camera at 30 fps
Eyes to see
Ears to hear

Nice to have:
Revfire
Pocket radar
Portable rubber
