"Ok - let's end this session with 10 pitches. Throw whatever you want, but dont tell me whats coming."
disclaimer: if your dd throws in the 60s, maybe this is not advisable unless you are very skilled, and own catchers gear.
my 13yr old DD cruises in the lower to mid-50s.
She just started learning the rise. also has a drop and a good change up.
I wanted to accomplish two things:
1. can I pick her change?
2. is her "developmental rise" an effective pitch yet?
answers: 1. No! 2. Maybe, lets try it in a game and see what happens.
This is a great way to evaluate the effectiveness of your pitcher, almost as if through the eyes of a batter. We both had fun with this. I was fooled on many pitches and this brought her great joy - and I managed NOT to take one on the nose. Bonus!
