Adam Folkard is widely considered the #1 pitcher in the world for Men's FP.

For those of you that aren't aware, the pitching rules are different for the men's game and the women's game.

The men only have to start with one foot in contact with the pitcher's plate and are allowed to leap.

There was a proposal at the USA SB (ASA) council meeting a few years ago to allow the female players to leap. It was voted down.
The main reason that was given is that it shouldn't happen until the three major rules bodies (NCAA, NFHS, USA SB) all changed simultaneously.

That is rich! Waiting for everyone to get on same page and do it simultaneously. Why not just be honest and say when hell freezes over? Then again the Cubs finally won the WS, so I guess it could happen. :)

I agree Barnhill crow hops/replants. I will say I see that "style" quite a bit these days. ASA defines a crow hop as replant prior to delivery. I thought comp or one of the other esteemed umps stated one of the governing bodies clarified that you can't have a replant without loss of contact with ground? I could be wrong but I thought I read that here.

I do not think a pitcher has to leap in order to replant, but I am not an umpire.

Probably the reason the ruling bodies don't enforce the leap and drag rules currently since they know its going to be repealed in a few years anyways once they all get around to changing it. Like it or not, we are in the middle of a transition period and it may take another few years but don't be surprised by the 2020 Olympics, the U.S. rules will allow leaping, just like the men.

That may or may not ever happen. Until it does it is still the rule and should be enforced. You must comply with the rules regardless of one's personal opinion.

Most Pitchers today Leap. But it is so hard to see unless you slow motion it. The leap will be harder to call than Re-Planting. Which is obvious.

There was an apparent replant IP called tonight in the ASU - AZ game on ASU. Coach was not thrilled with the call.

Edit: The replant was called on Breanna Macha of ASU. That was the apparent call.
