Wondering the forum's opinions of who they think is the best 2017 example of each basic type of pitch: Riseball, Dropball, Curveball, Screwball, Changeup
and maybe a bonus question: who is the best multi-dimensional pitcher - the best/robust bag 'o tricks?

I'll go first.

Riseball=Barnhill(Florida)
Dropball=Kleist(Oregon)
Curveball=Littlejohn(Alabama)
Screwball=Carlson(Auburn)
Changeup=O'Toole(Arizona)

Best Bag of Tricks=Groenewegen(Minnesota)

I haven't seen a lot of pitchers outside of the SEC/ACC this season,
so I'm hoping this thread will become a primer for who to look for once the tournament gets going.

I like your list. I have only seen O'Toole once.
I do like Betsa's Changeup.
I like Paige Parker's Drop (last year's WCWS pitcher).
I'm sure Megan Good has a pretty good Bag of Tricks, but I haven't seen her pitch much.

The "Riseball = Barnhill" entry is so dripping with irony on this board, should be fun to watch how this thread progresses. :cool:

yeah - this poll is irrespective of "mechanics", and geared only toward actual results.

If it helps any, I had a hard time not naming Orsorio(Alabama) for the "Riseball" category.
Hers is just so beautiful to watch, but there is just no denying the effectiveness edge of Barnhill's.
sorry.

Florida has three of the top seven pitchers based on ERA. Sophomore, Junior, and a Senior, in that order.

ERA is such a bad stat though. So many variables that has nothing to do with the pitcher.

Not saying this to discredit Florida's pitchers because they are good.
