Had the honor of attending a camp with Rick. He treated the kids so well, he stayed late to work with them and could not have been more positive. We are very fortunate to have him on this board. His DD is pretty incredible too :)

for Riseball: I think we found a great example of a (small) leap, that is NOT also accompanied by a "second push" or "crowhop"

wrong camera angle to conclude whether there is also a "gym step" here...

I think we need to ask ourselves, if dragging the pivot along the ground is so natural how come the best pitchers in the U.S. and the world can't keep their foot on the ground?

Yeah. They should pitch from natural position like this:

If you can chew gum and walk, you can see for yourself that keeping ones toe pointed down is far and away more natural that what is shown above. Seriously, try it! :)

I'm talking about the dragging the foot part. Why do almost all female pitchers want to lift their back foot off the ground and why do the most experienced of all pitchers still have a tendency to do it. I KNOW Rick isn't purposely teaching Sarah to illegally pitch this way and yet she is a professional pitcher at the highest levels of the sport and she can't keep the pivot foot down?

Just want an honest discussion about whether or not the "drag the foot" should be in the pitching regulations or has it run its course, especially since the governing bodies choose not to enforce the pitching rules.

I don't recognize this release.....she has developed a bit of a dropcurve recently so it may be that but the stride is very confusing and questionable.....is this a live game pitch or a warm up pitch.....I don't see any fielders or hitter. Sarah does occasionally get called for a gym step.....and can correct it instantly without any degradation of pitch performance.....just a bad habit that creeps in. As you will note, the NPF plays on lots of fields with carpets layed on baseball fields or in this case and artificial turf. Without a push toe hole these habits creep in often.

I don't have anything to add but needed to find a place to type my 500th post. Figured following a post by Rick with my 500th would be a good one.

So as I think I will say good bye to "I can talk softball all day" when I hit the post quick reply button, I am anxious to find out what is next for me....

Here it goes....
