DD uses an evo shield but has outgrown it. I want to get her a new one but would like to check for other brand/options.

does your DD use a chest guard? if so, which brand?

No face mask, no chest guard. Priority on the safety equipment list: a pad on her left thigh to keep from bruising as the result of glove-smacking.

12U. face mask and evo shield chest guard. grew out of last year's and played first few tourneys without one. Line drive back at her at practice hit her in wrist and stomach. figured $60 was a small price to pay "just in case" she couldn't react to the next one.

Finding a chest guard that fits properly becomes more problematic as players "mature". That said, since Evo Shield is molded to fit, my guess is it will be your best option.

Evo Shield is our choice. Wish I could get my kid to wear some shin guards though, I think she gets hit every other tournament.

DD wore a chest guard made by McDavid until a couple of years ago. It is a dense foam pad embedded in a compression shirt. Had no issues with range, mobility and flexibility and certainly gave her crazy pitching parents a little peace of mind.

I looked into chest protectors a while back when I was looking at them for my DD. At the time all the studies found them to be ineffective in preventing commotio cordis. This was a few years ago so the new ones might be better and I’m not a doctor so this is in no way a professional opinion. I just hope parents are doing the research and know what they’re really getting. If it gives her more confidence and she plays better with it then its worth the investment. If you’re worried about catastrophic injury it might be best to have the team invest in an AED.
