OMG!!! The last time I saw that drill was from the "pitching coach" at the HS my DD was going to go to 16 years ago. They tried to change one of the best IR pitchers in the area to HE. They tried to get my DD to change before she got to HS. I politely told them not in a million years. My DD was playing for the same program the HS stud was playing for. The stud went on to pitch at Stanford.

Luckily the Dynamic Duo only lasted one season.

I believe the primary purpose of the drill is this - Most pitching lessons are an hour. That's just too much time for most young pitchers so you have to fill the time up with something that seems technical!

P.S. Just a bit of kidding. This kind of stuff gets kids throwing a lot of pitches and JAD is right... It may help stop a back leg anchor (although a lot of top level clips show that may not be a bad thing!)
