Seems to me if it's normal muscle soreness and you take a couple weeks off as suggested then when she comes back and pitches next time she will be just as sore next time like when you go to the gym sporadically you are sore every time I would take a day or two off and then do a light workout. and then end of week have a full workout. You want to build muscle and endurance not just take time off and then have to start all over again.
I agree. We only take a few days off for regular soreness. Besides our regular Christmas break and slow-down in August, we only take more than a few days off for real issues, like tendinitis or another injury.

There is a difference between being sore and being hurt. If she is sore, she can probably pitch through it. If she is hurt, then you need to shut it down until you figure out what is wrong.

its all up to the kid. If she doesn't want to pitch for a while give her some time off to let things rest out. Ask her, dont tell to her to practice pitching again until shes ready . Kids know.

JAD nailed it! I would question a pitchers work ethic if they were not sore after a tournament or hard workout. Nothing wrong with pitching when sore but never when hurt. With experience pitchers learn what is normal and what is not. If the soreness is getting more intense then it is time to re-evaluate the situation, which should include recovery and an examination of mechanics and regimen. If a kid pitches on the weekend and requires more than a day or two of rest something is wrong.

I'm just being cautious because I'm relatively new to this. I asked her this afternoon how she felt. Said she felt fine. She was disappointed that I cancelled her pitching lesson for the evening. Thanks for all your help. It's good to have place to ask questions to people that have the experience. Thanks again
