We have been working on drive, whip, and swimming with the glove arm....here is a video from behind...will post a side one in a few. Hopefully Java...Doug...and Ken can take a look as they have commented before...anyone else can offer their 2 cents as well.

While we wait for Java to respond... Good things I see are
(1) She get a pretty decent first (forward-leaning) "h"
(2) I don't see her a being a stride-dominant pitcher. That is, her thrust is almost spent when her stride foot extend past her stride knee.
(3) At 9:00 (she's a leftie) she's pretty close to pulling away with that drag foot (nice).
(4) Watch from her head down as she releases the ball--she does a great job of stopping her forward movement (like she's run into a wall).
(5) She's leading with her elbow down the back side of her arm circle
(6) She's got decent IR and some brush contact
I'd say be careful that you don't digress with these areas that she's doing well.

Possible adjustment areas that I see are:
(1) Even though she gets good lean forward prior to thrust, I don't think she should stand directly over that right leg/foot when she takes her weight back--keep a forward lean even while taking weight to back foot.
(2) Even though she keeps her hips and legs square to the target as she drives out, that early shoulder/torso twisting I see as maybe excessive. Why? I think it results in over opening of the hips just prior to her landing and thus maybe a little too much turning of that right/landing leg, thus the foot seems a little too turned, thus the brush assist is a little less than it would be otherwise.
(3) This is just me.....Take it with a grain of salt.... I've grown to dislike the nose-in-the-air release. Why? I believe there should be a core bearing down somewhat just prior to and at release. This would have the nose/head more level, not tilted up. Again, that's just me. It would be very low on the list of things to work on.

She's throwing around her body instead of across her body...2020landing.jpg2020landingb.jpg

Her plant foot (right foot) is too closed for my liking and if you note the behind pic, she is throwing from a closed position...stepping across the power line...

Take note of Java's landing position from his drive mechanics thread...

To Doug's point about brush...it will get better if her stride and plant foot position improve...CP

Thanks man....again this is another point of emphasis that we will get to as well. As I told Doug it's great to get other opinions to ensure that I am seeing what I am seeing. Thanks again.

I'm with others there is a whole lot right going on here so no wholesale changes.

She is a lefty so the best side view need to be taken from the other side so we can better see whats going on.

I agree with Chris I could not really pinpoint it but I keep saying to myself she is throwing around her body but mechanically most things look OK.

The stride foot landing closed and slightly to the left could be contributing.

Another thing I might look at is her hand position it does not look like she is ever under the ball, she always beside it.

Anyway take this all in find one or two things you agree with and introduce them slowly. Again there is so much going right I would not want to do much at once to disrupt thing.

Chris, would you care to elaborate alittle on the throwing across her body? My dd is similar to Twenty20's DD, is the issue only with landing across the powerline?

It's not necessarily the only cause but it contributes because it forces mechanical changes.

Try this stand at the point chris has stopped the video. If you stand there with your foot across the line you have to compensate, usually this takes the form of a lean (no this case) because that is how you would get your arm to hang down naturally or you keep your upper body in the correct position (this case) and use your arm and have it go around instead of across. It's not terrible here because she it not stepping too far over but it is still noticeable and will prevent her from using optimal mechanics.

Here is a pretty good video explaining what I'm talking about.

From the master...

So...if you crossover the power line like the OP's DD, now you are throwing AROUND your body...

In this frame, if her right leg was right of the power line, the ball would be able to "see" its target...allowing her to throw across her body...

Instead, because she's across the line, the ball gets hidden from its target so she has to throw "around" her body...

Make sense?
