HI - My pitching DD is going to High School.
Is there an additional sport she can play that is complimentary to softball and/or pitching...?
She is tall and suggested volleyball, but I dont want her to jam fingers and set her pitching back.
Thanks in advance
DD (turning 13 in March) has softball (pitcher) as her primary focus but also does track and field, basketball and volleyball through her school, and judo as part of a club. Thankfully the judo (which I consider to be the most dangerous in terms of sustaining an injury that would set her pitching back) conflicts with pitching practice and so she's only been out to judo a couple of times this year. I'm happiest about the track and field as a complementary sport to softball; great cardio with some strength training.
Stop worrying about your DD getting hurt... Let her be a kid.
My DD plays volleyball, basketball we were even thinking about signing her up for REC baseball She's 13 and a pitcher. Volleyball is a great sport for fitness, basketball is even better.
Ok, so I am biased. I am a HS Girl's Golf Coach. My dd and many others played golf and did well. I asked a sophomore to come out this year and she had never played 9 holes of golf in her life. She finished as my #3 this year. My dd had several college offers in golf but then again, she could drive a golf ball out of this world. They have fun and get to do another sport.
My DD plays soccer for her HS. She's a midfielder so it's a ton of running and I think the foot skills help her in the outfield during softball season.
She's had a few sprained ankles but nothing that wouldn't happen in any other sport plus she's in incredible shape
