How old is your DD?

I concentrate on her drive mechanics rather than focus on the drag leg and hip snap. In my opinion, she is driving to open rather than concentrating on a good, forceful out drive. This picture:

shows me she is really twisting her hips to force an open rather than letting it happen naturally through the drive. She also appears to be more about reaching with her stride leg rather than driving with her drive leg.

I'd tell her to not worry about opening and just drive out hard. Maybe even try to keep her shoulders and the front of her hips pointed at the catcher. If her drive mechanics are solid, she'll open naturally.

She is almost 11. I will try to focus more on the drive out. When we have worked on this before, she always tries over-exaggerate one or the other instead of just letting it "happen" if that makes any sense.

Try this exercise to see if she can feel what is supposed to be happening get her into the position below: Feet spread apart with back foot and heel on the ground now from that position have her lift her heel off the ground and she should be up on her toe so that her laces are pointing at the catcher, she should feel her hip release. Now let her know this is how it should feel when she is at release. Then start working from 3 oclock getting her to heel up laces to the catcher, keep progressing backwards from there. She is also going to have to work on hand position it looks like she is under the ball alot which is not what we are looking for and is stopping her from getting good IR, although she is getting some at the very end. Other things to work on are the lean forward at release she need to be straight up and down not leaning forward. Finally as others have said better drive mechanic are needed as well.

Don't feel like this is piling on or it is too much to fix; all these thing are very typical for pitchers of her age and experience and over the course of the winter is the perfect time to start working on these things so she gets better and ready for next season. Go to some of the old threads on IR and Drive mechanics they will help alot.

Full count, I don't want to take over your thread but wanted to throw this picture out there to get peoples thoughts which might be helpful to you and provide more direction to go or not to go.

DD pc told her on drive out like she is going chest bump the catcher. Helped her understand the drive portion.

Throw out a picture of a fairly obvious replant? Why?

DNeeld, I probably shouldn't have put that pic here and instead started a new thread or something. My fault on that. Full Count had mentioned trying to get more power in the drive and IMO and the push, drag, push or as ASA calls it, Crow Drag is an option for that. Also, I was hoping to get some thoughts on it but this could start to derail Full Count so I will stop here and BUMP another thread I found hidden in the jungle.
