Wondering if anyone out there recommends a specific pitch tracking chart or method? I've found a few but havent found exactly what I'm looking for. Any help would be appreciated.
Mainly spot accuracy and batter success when the spots are accurately hit. Also, wether or not the pitch that is called (change up, riseball, etc...) is successful. In other words, did the pitcher accurately throw the pitch that was called.
That is not going to be easy since it is subjective. You also will need to call pitches from the dugout since otherwise you will not know what is called. I have a chart that I use for what is called and the results, Ball, Called Strike, Swinging Strike, and Contact. That gives me an objective assessment of 1st pitch strike ratio (65-70%), if the pitcher is getting deep in the count, which pitches are getting hit, which pitches are getting swings, pitch count, etc. From time to time I will track which pitches are above the belt which gives me an idea if the are hitting spots but it is hard to discern a pitch in the river vs a pitch a full ball on the plate. I have tracked what you describe but it is usually done with an assistant behind the backstop so they can accurately evaluate location.
