Ever seen a 9 year old pitch 60 mph? I have....unreal.... Played in a tourney this past weekend and lets just say we ran in to a wood chipper...lol. No exaggeration, 60mph in 10U.
No offence, but I'd have to see it to believe it. I have 17 year old students that have been at this for 8 or 9 years, they work out like crazy, have very solid fundamentals, and still barley hit 60... truthfully its more like 57 or 58....
I know I know, it doesn't sound right,....trust me, I wouldn't believe it either if I didn't see it with my own eyes. I don't want to post the video as its not my kid, I put the video in technique app (used to be called uber sense I think) it basically allows you to play the video frame by frame and it also measures the time. It took .36 seconds from release until it crossed the back tip of the plate which is 57 mph if she had a 5 ft stride (which she does, at least). That's average speed throughout the whole pitch (30 ft distance w/ stride) so add a couple few mph I would think would be accurate.
Having clocked some of the best 10U pitchers in the SE over the past year and not ever seen 50+ on my pocket radar (outside of running in), it definitely is hard to believe. But I suppose stranger things have happened.
I haven't seen a 10U throwing 60 in person, but there were rumors of one at this year's PGF, along with a few in the upper 50s. SyndreSoftball's DD was one of the upper-50s pitchers. I've see her. It's no joke.
