There is a correct way to pitch.

Your DD *should*:

1) Finish with the hand in the "please, gentle umpire, kiss my hand" position. She should *NOT* finish with the arm in the "L" position. (Forearm Pronation)
2) Finish (after release) with her push off foot behind the landing foot. She should *NOT* take one or more steps toward the catcher after release. (Front side resistance)
3) Brush her hip with her arm immediately prior to release. She should *NOT* miss the hip with her arm. (Brush resistance)
4) Have a bend in her arm as she goes from the top to release. She should *NOT* have a straight arm. (The whip)
5) Pull the ball from the top to release (the hand should be behind/under the ball). She should *NOT* push the ball. (Internal rotation)

If a pitching coach isn't teaching these five things, then you need a different pitching coach.

There is more to pitching than these five things. But, if a kid isn't learning at these five things, then she will never develop.

We have several pitchers besides my DD on our team, and at least one of them is in lessons with an HE instructor (a couple who I think are just starting and may not even be in lessons). I shared this on our team FB group. I don't want to dis their instructor in a personal way so I thought this FYI, here's some great basic info on correct pitching mechanics might work better.

Thanks Perfect Circle, I'll give it a shot. I wish I was a little closer to Knoxville. I've got 3 girls with good potential, one could be elite. All I've come across so far is Hello Elbow.

No HE... not even once... He's the only one in your state I've meet. I have been up til 2:30am w/him in a group of 10+ Pitching Coaches

If you got a place, and can get few more (???)... along w/ that potential elite, you might be able to get on the Hillhouse Circuit ?

If you got video & computer skills...& the time to see to it they do it... you might be able to go virtual with Rick Pauly ???

Just some of my ideas... Not recently updated on all the above... things change... that would be my approach. You might need
to get the above's (& others on here's) links or DVD's ect...and roll up your sleeves and be our IR guy in your area.

Thanks guys. I've already corresponded with Brandon and I'm getting more excited by the minute. Knoxville is looking much closer all of a sudden. We are going to make this work.
