i would do exactly what sluggers suggested.

I like Sluggers' advice to be upfront about it. But I wouldn't present it that way. Not the place of parent or player to tell coach what to coach and how to make the lineup, IMO. But, it is the place of a player (or parent if necessary) to explain why the player is refusing to do what the coach is asking. ''My DD has a pitching coach who teaches her different mechanics, and we want her to follow that instruction. If that means she can't pitch for you, we understand. That's your call.''

Let's review:

- The young lady in question throws quite well with I/R
- This is a team where the Head Coach is a PC who teaches HE.
- This PC is a former pitcher who we must assume threw with HE.
- This team already has 4 pitchers all who take lessons from the HC/PC who teaches HE.
- During the tryouts the coach was already attempting to convert the young lady in question to HE.

Regardless of great intentions, wishful thinking, and courteous conversations, based on the collective experience of this board please tell me on what planet this works out just fine?

Riseball,
I appreciate the honest feedback. Seriously. You are right on every point but this one:

"- This team already has 4 pitchers all who take lessons from the HC/PC who teaches HE."

There are 4 pitchers total, including my daughter. 3 are taking lessons from the coach.

Not that having that one fact incorrect makes you wrong. You may be absolutely right. The only positive about making it work would be to have her playing with the kids she will eventually be in HS with. I believe this coach actually helps on the JV team also. Ugh.

It's Middle School...as long as she can hit and field (assuming she is top 5 or 6 of girls on the team) just tell the coach you ready and willing to pitch, but have a private pitching coach if you don't think I'm ready to pitch I'm ready to contribute in the field. Then keep working on the side so you are ready for TB season.

HE disciples or not, 3 v 4 P makes no difference as most school teams ride 1 or 2 at most. Develop other positional skills during school season and work independently on P.

If you can tell the coach/former pitcher that you prefer the methods of your DD's pitching instructor without implying that the coach doesn't really know what she is doing, let us know. There are some problems in the Middle East you can probably solve.

bingo, yatzee, we have a winner, tell em what they've won bob!
this coach will definitely show prefferential treatment to her 3 students. Dont be naive and think the best. We all know what'll happen here!
