Looks really good, IMHO it looks like she pops up at pitch release which takes away velocity and spin. Once your DD plants the front foot the top half should lock in allowing for maximum whip this is all part of maximum push back/front resistance. I think its happening because her arm is quite stiff and straight through release and not allowing the whip and IR to complete its natural path making the shoulder/body give way. Even if this is a drop ball IMO its only your body that gets over the ball to create the drop ,everything should be the same as any other pitch.

My only experience with this is with my own DD who had the same issue.

Thanks for the reply
We actually watched your DDs video yesterday before we went to workout, she looks awesome. The last couple of days we have focused on front side resistance and trying to stop at a 45 degree angle, I'm still not convinced she's nailing it yet.

Slow motion video would be much easier to evaluate. Hard to be 100% sure, but it looks like she locks out her elbow and loses some of the "whip" IR provides.

She is so athletic.

I would work on her feet, too much movement down their for me. She is not getting a good push off IMO.

Might be why frount side might be better.

I wish she could get better push, her slide and go comes from Javas drive mechanics thread.

First, I am hoping that the only reason her drive foot is coming off the pitching plate is because she is indoors and she does not normally do this. She is actually coming off the plate which is not legal. Same with the back foot it should be in contact with the back of the plate. I know sometimes its hard off a different surface, maybe we could see something off dirt to ease our minds, granted it might not get called but you don't want the first time she starts getting IP calls to be the state or national tournament championship or at the showcase with a prospective coach there.

Have you submitted video before? I'm pretty sure I remember her. Either way she still needs to work the power line. I would also put some kind of markers on the floor (if you use tape make sure its not where she will step on it and slip, maybe use sidewalk chalk) and mark the pitching lane my guess is she is really close to stepping out the left side which is pretty hard considering she starts on the right side of the plate.

I would also second the stiff arm, try and getting a clip that is direct side view so we can see her arm circle to see when she is locking her arm, once it gets to 12 o'clock it really should not be locked again through the rest of the motion.

and finally I second the hopping forward on the follow through it is a sign she is not properly balanced she should come back to rest naturally on her back foot

now that the nitpicking is over....fear not there is a whole lot to like she looks like a very strong athletic girl with pretty good fundamentals...but now that the season is over it is exactly the time to start address some of these things that will in the longer run make her better. In case you have not seen the a few hundred times...food for study
