Something has changed with DD this year that has made her a better pitcher, she is using her head. DD is 15 and doesn't have exceptional speed but mixes the speed she has, works the corners and doesn't walk many hitters. I call her Greg Maddux and she gives me that WTF look. We were talking on the way home and she starts telling me the umpires strike zone and the adjustments she made and tendencies of some of the hitters. The best was the other night when she told me that the opposing pitcher would hold the ball on her hip and adjust her grip. Once DD saw the first change up she knew every time the pitcher was going to throw it. Its been fun watching her take the next step.

MK37,

This is what it's all about.

Your daughter is in a process of mentally transitioning from thrower to pitcher. This is an important transition for an athlete, and especially if you see that the physical results trend the thought process.

There are many athletes, even at the college level, who will not experience this.

Curious...is your daughter coached, or is this self-taught?

Congrats!

She is self taught by using what we've learned from this board and Hillhouse videos. We tried a couple coaches in the Milwaukee area but none taught IR.

Wonderful!

You both have two sets of excellent tools at your disposure (Bill's vids & the forum).

I've heard that about the Milwaukee area.

You have options in Green Bay & Illinois if you have need. Ken Krause is in the Chicagoland area.

I would highly recommend hooking up with Chris Delorit........I watched him in action at the Indiana clinic and was very, very impressed. Make the trip.

Its amazing what these little girls can do when they learn. We work big on mechanics, my niece is 10 and lives and breathes softball (recorded all the college games on tv to watch, or she will sit and watch other rec games and stare at a pitcher to see what she can pick up. It always makes me smile when she comes up to me and says oh this girls could be faster if .., or when she does this she is throwing a change, and my all time favorite was when after a girls first warm up pitch she jumped up and went to her coach/dad and pointed out that she was illegal.
