The wrist flips thread got me wondering what does everybody's DD do for pregame warm ups. My DD is a new pitcher and I need to know what drills to use to warm up. Thanks

This is DD's sequence:

overhand throwing
BM's lock-it-in
BM's 9:00
BM's Liberty or K-position
Walk-throughs
Full-motion

we start mixing-in different speeds/spins at the liberty/k-postion step.
mixing-in some change ups from the walk-through warm-up is especially helpful.

Back on the dirt...
We same as Corlay, but we mix in under hand throwing with the over hand once she starts to get a little loose. Alternate under/over. The rest is the same as above.

We will be 12u this fall.

Before my pitchers pick up a ball, they go through a series of movements that involve pronation and supination to start to warm the anterior part of the forearm before we pick up a ball. Legs and hip flexors are warmed and stretched too...

I can't claim this as being original...in our first meeting with JavaSource a couple of years ago described\prescribed a resistance band routine for the pitchers to use...I took that routine to some of the physical therapists at the hospital I work and asked them to adapt it to my girls for when they are at a field. I don't have pics or clips for this routine...all I can say is getting the 3 forearm flexors warmed BEFORE you throw has helped my pitchers significantly

For my DD in college it starts hours before first pitch with a visit to the trainer to get her arm prepped followed by Crossover Symmetry (resistance bands). Then on the field it starts with long toss followed by walk throughs, and finally down to business with a full motion. If she struggles with a pitch she may get close to the catcher, isolate her lower body and work on the release/spin for a few minutes. FWIW - The only difference between when she was playing TB and college is the visit to the trainer. We utilized drills to learn a new concept or fix an issue but never as part of a warm up routine.

We do the same. Curious though...how many of each do you all do? We vary depending on how she's feeling (usually 10-15)...but wonder if we should just stick to a prescribed amount.

-Full body, dynamic warm up with the team
-Progressive overhand with team or catcher
-Progressive underhand from about 2/3rds distance then moving back--engaging more and more lower body then continuing into
-Walkthroughs at or around pitching distance and ending a few paces past the rubber.
-Spots/spins.

I don't push K's or any other drill, but let them add whatever they want.
