Just behind home plate
I live on an old farm. We use one of the chicken houses out here. I have a tarp setup inside the chicken house at 45 feet (the distance from the pitching rubber to the plate. I have reflective duct tape on the tarp to indicate the strike zone (I used my 12 year old sister as my model). I'd throw to that. Everything I used with the exception of the tape my dad bought from Harbor Freight Tools near us.

Tincher pitching lessons relies on the pitching into the tarp extensively - I want to think it was for an audible throw hard reaction. We used our bownet and a small tarp, and small bungees.

Keep in mind that the greatest benefit from throwing into a tarp is at short distance, 5 - 7 feet. This keeps everyone focused on pitching mechanics, not end results.
