My DD can usually pick up on how to pitch a new pitch right away. Her best pitch is a change up or fastball. She likes working on the drop ball. She struggles with the rise ball which makes her less enthusiastic to practice it. Anyone else have a DD that doesn't want to work on a pitch because it doesn't come easy? How do you combat the issue?

She needs to understand that her pitches compliment each other and together each are more effective. At the tender age of 20 my DD is starting to master a change up. Her bread and butter is her 2 seam, and rise. But when the CU is on, she is much more effective. For your DD although the rise may be difficult it gives another look and will make her FB and CU even more effective. Not to mention the rise at the top of the zone is without a doubt the best pitch to throw in a known bunt situation. :)

Have you tried just doing tarp work from 10-15 feet away to start to master the spin of a rise before standing at 43' expecting movement?

This might remove some of her negativity towards learning the rise...CP
