Being 9 and only having been at it for 2 months, she's not too bad. Obviously there are plenty of issues that need addressed, but as to I/R, yes she's getting a touch of it. Try bringing her bicep closer to her ear at the top of the circle and tight to the ribs coming down. Continue to keep the ball oriented upward at 9:00, as this will further develop the I/R muscle memory. Secondly, be sure she isn't taking any steps forward after release, resist any forward movement with any part of the body besides the arm of course. Feel free to pm me for more detailed analysis.

We have been seeing a pitching coach that teaches HE. I kept noticing her arm wasn't doing what the coach was wanting her to do. So I videoed her and thought I was seeing IR.
My DD just started with a team and her coach wanted to see her pitch. They have 3 pitchers that all throw HE. So my dd pitches for him and he claims my dd is throwing side arm. Now that that I'm a little more educated about the pitching differences. I'm hoping I can convince him that she's throwing correctly.
Coach James I tried to pm you but your inbox is full. I will try again later. Thanks

The full blown believers in HE will always say I/R is sidearm, and brush will hurt your arm, or stationary locked arm wrist flicks is the correct way to building better spin..... but we know different.
Ps. My inbox is now clear

If you take a look at this little sequence, you'll see where the coach is getting the "Sidearm" from. In frames 1 through 3, she's actually in a pretty good position to throw the ball. That huge gap between her thigh and the ball in frame 4 is not ideal. The concept of the flex in the elbow down the back side of the circle is a good one, but your DD is maintaining that flex in the elbow when it should be fully extended at release. Work on getting her to release the ball closer to her leg and that may fix a few other things. Maybe a cue of throwing the ball across her body, instead of around her body may help. Right now the Internal rotation of the upper arm is happening late. Fixing the previously mentioned, should fix the late IR.

Thanks Frozenrope. Looking at the last frame it looks like she s leaning to her right. Should she be more straight and standing tall?

I wouldn't consider this to be a severe lean, but there is a slight throwing side lean. Work on the posture and the ball proximity with some partial circle drills....1/4 circles, 1/2 circles and 3/4 circles. Run them in progression starting with the 1/4 circles. Her lean is more of a shoulder dip, so as you're working on those drills, encourage her NOT to dip the throwing shoulder.

I've been reading a researching about IR that last few days. Since we don't have a pitching coach in our area that teaches IR I'm going to try to do it myself. Are their a list of drills and video that I can view and show my dd?
