I agree completely but the earlier the changing the moment of inertia does increase velocity compared to going long arm till 9 oclock.

If you think about it in terms of 9:00=when humerus is parallel to ground (and NOT where the ball is)

then the theory still holds water...

Here are my cues...the first ones are used at the beginning of practice the last ones at the end...
"Loose and whippy"
"Throw your elbow not your hand"
"Feel the snap"
"For God's sake it's been 2 years and we are still working on this?"
"You must have a degenerative joint disorder that leads to chronic stiffness in your elbow"
"How do you feed yourself with a fused elbow"
"Wiping your butt just be a real challenge kid"
"Yeah well I don't want to practice anymore either"

Oh man that was funny!!! I seriously had to stifle a huge laugh at my desk.

I've been through about all those. I'd like to add:

"I don't understand how you make straight As in school but can't understand what I'm saying."

Bump - Really good cue and some funny ones too from way back then.

Was just thinking about that sequence of cues a couple of weeks ago. We've been working on better drive (ive read Java sticky countless times) and frustration was mounting. I thought I should do a post like the one about whippiness (as we say) only focused on launch & drive. But I am not witty enough to pull it off. Love the finale...been there a number of times.

Perfect timing for this thread to resurface...just got some amazing notes and slo mo video back from a session with Java that does a deep dive into DD's timing and catching the full amount of the whip (IR at it's best). Seeing a similar analysis done on another pitcher, reading additional notes on it helps further cement (at least for me, I'm hoping it will help DD as well) the exact point in time we are working to improve. Of course JJ's cues will be critical to the success of creating this movement!
