Yup, I placed my Sony on the floor between me (the catcher) and KJ (the pitcher). You get some cool shots from there, but I guess I'm running a risk of the pitcher hitting it.

Perfect rise? NOPE! However, she's getting great backspin!

Hey Doug, Your girls look pretty athletic and good overall mechanics, However this is about the rise.... Im seeing a lot of forearm rotation through release (causes the curve spin) and both are too vertical for me. Try keeping the thumb pointed at third throughout the release and allow the arm to get much lower by staying way behind vertical as this will get her a better upward trajectory... Just my 2 cents... take care, James

Looks like your focus with M on the lower half is really starting to show. "Lazy legs" has some serious improvements to note. Nice job!

I just watched both of these and I didn't know anything about M but her drive is exactly what stuck out to me...nice job!

M is still a bit of a klutz, and I say that with all the admiration in the world for her, but when she pitches, you'd think she was very athletic. Java knows M from awhile back. I think her dedication and yearning to be a pitcher is the top advantage she's got.

The clip is her pitching a rise-curve, but we've been working on her keeping that front shoulder pointed more toward the catcher (i.e., more open) and not cup the hand as much (i.e., have the hand pointed more toward the floor through release. We are finding that "men's riseball grip" Pauly suggested she use (spring-loaded index finger). While she still wants to have a rise-curve pitch, we are using the men's rise grip as her work-in-progress true riseball rotation. The spring-loaded index finger is a great idea for her, but she's got to keep the hand more palm out and avoid cupping the palm. Her fingers are plenty long for them to be under the ball as she releases (she doesn't need to cup her hand as she does).
