I definitely see the arm angle issue and we will work on that for sure.
I'm wondering if her back leg drive, where her back knee drives into her front knee may cause a "catch" upward as well?
I'm wondering if she drags her back foot to her front foot instead of knee to knee, if that will help keep the ball lower?

She has potential and with some back to basics and tweaks that have been mentioned she could be pretty good. Take the time to browse ALL of the sticky pitching threads. There is a ton of information there.

The road to mediocrity is built by those who waited for an opportune time to do something that will make them great. They always have a reason why they can't and are content to settle for something less. Those who truly excel know that the time is now.

Been tinkering with IR and she's throwing harder but always high. Any suggestions? We leave for the state tournament this week!

Have you tried telling her to it throw lower or she'll walk people or get hammered leading to a fast end to her pitching career?

This isn't a diss to you or your DD in any way and I'm being totally serious. My years of experience tell me that when a pitcher is missing high AND low they have mechanical flaws. But when they ALWAYS miss high OR low, they have a mental problem....

The bottom line is your DD's mechanics are pretty damn solid out side of needing a little bend in the arm.......And that shouldn't be causing her to throw high consistently........

Your DD needs to make an adjustment. Plain and simple. Learning to make adjustments is as complicated as learning a new pitch. You can't just "say curveball" to make it curve. You have to CAUSE it to curve......

I can't tell you how many students I've told, after throwing high or in the dirt obsessively.......

"If the next pitch is high (or low), your lesson (session) is over". It's amazing how things change when a student realizes that she actually has to DO SOMETHING DIFFERENTLY to cause a change.....or else suffer the consequences.....

Your DD would only get away with 3 pitches above my head before she'd be throwing it in the dirt ON PURPOSE so she can feel what a true adjustment feels like.....

Just a thought, speaking from experience.....

To add to BM's post above, there's a saying I give to my kids as well..... "Why on earth do you continue to do the exact same action, but expect a different result?......that is my definition of pure insanity.... your a very smart kid, make the adjustments."
In life, we have to make adjustments in everything we do based on our surroundings. This is no different.
High and low misses are simply timing or posture related.....period. She's missing high, so release deeper, or bring the vertical tilt forward a bit. It's that simple.

I totally agree with BM and CJ comments and maybe I should have stated it like this, she can make an adjustment and bring it down but she loses the whip (her words) and you can tell a difference in speed when she does. So I guess what I was needing help with was her not losing the whip but being able to bring the ball down at the same time. If that makes sense? Btw, let me say I appreciate all the help, this board has made her better over the past two weeks. I do believe in getting better now and she is still pitching well during games even though we are tweaking on her. She pitched a one hitter in a semi regional game last week but walked 6 due to pitching high. Since then we've worked on bringing the ball down but when we do, we lose speed. Thanks again for the help.

you probably lose speed because, she is "aiming" or "guiding" it low instead of whipping it low via a deeper release, and a more upright posture. My guess.

once a pitcher is releasing at or just forward of back hip, i find the cue to "release earlier" to get the ball down isnt nearly as effective as adjusting the posture. My experience.

but damn us for always searching for the one silver bullet correction to make DD an ace. this stuff is so intertwined and dependent upon so many timed variables; it just makes me crazy (and I secretly love it)

To make sure I understand you correctly, correcting posture in her case would be staying taller? She does look to be leaning some.
