OIlF - if by cult you mean parents that actually try to educate themselves about proper pitching mechanics, who have sat on a bucket catching their DDs pitches 1000's of times, analyze video of elite pitchers and compare and contrast that with what is being taught by paid pitching coaches, and follow the advice of students of the game such as Rick Pauly, Boardmember, and Javasource, then yes it is a cult.

You need to stop posting in the Pitching thread since you do more harm than good here. Maybe we can create a discussion board for second rate HS assistant coaches that will bench their #1 pitcher because she is using brush interference and slapping her thigh with her glove thread.

My advice would be read I/R in the classroom, then read it again. Do the drills yourself and then go back and read it again make sure your doing it correctly. Then you can start your dd doing these drills, but if you can feel it and understand it first then you can better help her with it. The I/R thread will teach you proper whip mechanics. Don't google or web search how to pitch 95% of the info on the web is not good info, I know I've searched it all this is the best place for fadtpitch info and I/R in classroom is where to start!

Take a close up video from the pitching arm side, back far enough that you can get the entire pitch in frame.
Take another video from behind.
Video at regular speed (not slow-mo).
Post those videos to youtube. We'll GIF them up, slow them down and that will further the discussion.

In the mean time, JJ has given some very good advice. Many of us started where you are not too many years ago. Finding this forum is the best thing that could have happened for your DDs pitching, unless you have moved next door to Rick Pauly, Boardmember, Javasource, Rich B, or Ken B. That in no way is meant to diminish the analysis of the rest of the cult, pass the Kool-Aid please.

Thank You! We are trying to budget this. Softball is turning out to be an expensive sport , but she loves it so much! I am overwhelmed as to where I start looking for one. :/

Along with many others who have posted (FLOI aside,) I really a appreciate this post. This is how I started 10+ years ago and I still learn constantly. I realize it's difficult to know who to listen to and trust, but I can guarantee that folks like JJ, Rocket and knightsb have done their homework and can help you streamline your learning.

Welcome to DFP,
Ken
