That is great but make sure that YOU also understand it. This is a team effort and you both need to get it. An athlete cannot become successful in a vacuum. Someone must be there for them to instruct, motivate, and hold them accountable. Like it or not, and I think you do, that is your role. You need to make sure she understands and executes the mechanics properly. Despite what OLIF may say, leaving an athlete to their own devices to figure it out is the path to failure.

I didn't understand why that comment was made from Out in Left Field, until I read my notification about a post I made. Thanks for the input. Yes, I do understand that I must help in her progress and unfortunately for her, I am no softball expert. Softball is something positive in her life that she enjoys doing and she works hard in school to get good grades. Even for TB, no good grades=no softball... Besides that, it is a lot better choice than chasing boys or other mischievousness a teenage girl can get into.

I get a little confused myself with FLOI. Sometimes there's the urging to give them a ball and figure things out, then there's the pleas to find a real PC and not come to a message board with a bunch of non-pitching, BD's giving lame advice. With so much hate and discontent, I can't understand why she continues to post here?

I find it a privilege to be able to post questions and get some VERY good advice--for free!!!

FYI the drive mechanics thread is extremely detailed so I would not have her read it unless she is a genius child. My suggestion would be for you to read it and take out a few key concepts and areas to work on. If you can get her to load properly and have her drag her pivot along the ground, you will be half way there. Btw, I think your DD is athletic and looks good for 6 months. Can't wait to see the new video in the fall!

Thanks...She seems to take 2 steps forward and then one step back. I have looked over some of the material and you are right it is a lot of information to take in at one time, even for me...much less her. At one point she was dragging her pivot so hard that her knee started to bother her...now she seems to hardly drag it now.

It is a great site and almost like anywhere you go, keep what you want and discard the rest. I do not mind someone pointing out a flaw in my daughters mechanic but I do want to know a solution to HOW to fix it. I already know her pitching is flawed...she wants to learn what to do to get better.

Like others have said, be patient and don't try to change too much too fast. Pitching is very difficult, with a lot of moving parts. You don't want her looking like a robot out there. My DD's are going through a change thanks to DFP. I couldn't be happier and more frustrated! :)

Thanks for the bump! It's been a pleasure to see D's growth and commitment over the last 3 years. Truly a competitor who's driven to improve!
