Slapping the leg

My dd does slap her leg when she pitches. Not hard enough to bruise but her thigh is usually red after she pitches. The slapping is an end result of pulling down with the glove hand and was taught to her by her pitching coach (the pulling down part not the slapping). Pulling down the glove hand is supposed to give her resistance to drive the ball hand against so as to produce more power and velocity. She just pitched against the Arizona Desert Thunder this weekend in Las Vegas, do you know them Amy?

I understand and agree the opposing forces can possibly add a tiny bit to the pitch. I'd happily give up that theoretical tiny advantage in order to have my DD's glove near her head and heart when that screaming line drive is back on her before she blinks.
