13-y.o. DD struggles with a consistent release point. Seems like every third pitch is over the catcher's head or a bowling ball. Is this just a matter of repetition, or is there something else that can help? She admits she doesn't practice enough, but I think part of that is her getting discouraged from lack of progress.

I notice your "join date" is this month (May 2014).

Look through the pitching threads. There are MANY discussions there that will be of great help.

Welcome to DFP! As Doug mentioned, there is some great info posted on the site. To narrow down some suggestions, it would be helpful to see her motion. Do happen to have any current video from the side and relatively close?

Video from the throwing arm side.

Looking through some other threads now. I can try to get some video, but my guess is that we will find that she probably doesn't do anything consistently. I can't really cue her much, because I don't know what I'm looking at. I keep telling her that if she'd just play hardball, I'd have her striking out boys in no time. She's not interested. :p

Honestly, neither of us has ambitions for her to be a D1 pitcher or anything, but looking at the next couple years of school ball, they will basically have one pitcher if she can't figure it out.

You're in luck for two reasons--lot's of great folks here with tons of experience, and there's a ton of great stuff posted in just the stickies alone to help you and her see what needs to be done. You've come to the right place.

Cowdogz, Sounds like it's time to find her a good pitching coach that teaches pitching with a focus on internal rotation. For you and working with her, I believe the following clip to be the best 9 seconds of pitching instruction (first step) that you won't understand a word of. In other words...pure visual is often better than too much description.

The following would be right there with the last clip as being at the top of the best 5-6 seconds of pitching mechanics 101 from a purely visual context.

Doug, thanks for these. Let me digest and then I'll try to pick your brain a bit. Not sure $90/hr for a PC is in the budget right now. We do have somebody who works with our school pitchers in the offseason for free, but he tends to focus on the HS girls.
