Roger, she seems to be dragging the back foot awfully hard, which will slow her down some. Looks to be a little open at release.

It is really kind of hard to tell with the video quality. Ideally it is easier to spot mechanical pluses/minuses from a side view shot. Also YouTube video is hard to analyze because it cuts out so many frames unless you post it to YouTube as a slow motion video.

hello Chris, I'm not smart enough to figure out how to do that. I'll try it tomorrow and I'll also post the side video as well, hopefully I can find the slow motion feature.

If you trim the clip down to the pitch you want to post and send it to me, I can add the slow motion effect to it. My email is gk_zone at hotmail dot com.

Please review these couple of pitches from the front and rear view, we have analyzed and found some mechanical issues. I appreciate any feedback as well as any solutions.
Thanks,

rdelawder

She's really not getting a good push off the mound. She is trying to generate speed by whipping her back leg in that figure four style. She drags it the whole time without really driving towards home plate with a push.

yeah she is not driving off the rubber hard enough which is causing her to have thie "hard" drag... she need to work on pushing out as far as she can get and that will generate more power. note that when she drives farther make sure she doesnt get discourgaed if she is losing the ball high because the release point will have to change..let me know how it goes

She is very much like many girls that I watch pitch around here.

This is a very athletic looking girl and if she came to me, we would work a long time on drills and timing.

She is trying to "bring it" and it's not happening. The pitch should be "nice and easy." I would want all of that effort to go towards developing a delivery that is smooth and relaxed.

It would help to get a video of her in the daytime. Also, if you could provide screen shots of her at 12, 3 and 6, it would be very helpful.

Have you guys been working on IR (internal rotation)? IR is simply a rotation of the *forearm* so that the thumb comes over the top of the forearm. She is flipping her right elbow outside. You can see in the attached screen shots her crazy right arm.

She needs to do a million "turn and throws" and work on keeping her upper body open when she throws.

I'm sure her Coach and I can get some better video during the daylight. He is trying to fix a lot of her flaws that she has picked up in the past 12 months. I'll get with him so we can get better footage added and the angles and images you need. I appreciate all the comments; this kid throws hard, but obviously wrong and if we could just fix her mechanics I think some day she will become an above average pitcher. I appreciate all the comments, as I'm sure her Coach is reading this, now he needs to fix it. LOL!

Hello all, I am the coach rdelawder is speaking of. One thing I've noticed after watching her for this past month, month and a half is that she has a aggressive take of, unfortunatly her take off is up and not toward catcher. There is some many things to work on, I've given her and her dad a few things to start working on. The only issue is we have 3 tournaments in the next 4 weeks. I didn't want to do an overhaul until we get time to just focus on the million drills in a row. The last things I advised them was to fully open up towards third prior to release and keep the throwing shoulder below the glove shoulder. I figured that's a good thing to change in season as opposed to overhaul. We actually have practice in a few hours from now and we will chat.
