I have two 9th grade gym steppers right now, so I have to speak up about this. I knew they were doing it but we did not have time on JV before scrimmages started (plus I am the V coach). Of course, one got called by the ump. Look they have been pitching for 4-6 years and no one stopped them from gym stepping.

See Carly's post on false load. I do not recommend teaching the pitchers a gym step on purpose. Wow.

Yeah... "Wow". You should read that post of hers too... and once you've done that you'll realize how absurd your post is... and then, you can erase your post like you normally do.

Thanks for trying to discredit another one of my posts. This softball community thanks you for offering zero advice on what a pitcher should do.

I don't mind the opposing views as it leads to a better discussion in my opinion. One could use a little tact when providing an alternate viewpoint with a topic but it doesn't bother me or make the material presented less valuable.

10U DD has started working the "Texas Two-Step" herself.
For what its worth, she has no problem working the mechanics of this drill,
and then pitching legal w a slide-step that maintains contact w the rubber at all times, until push-off/drag away.
(maybe I should film her alternating between the two for 10 successive pitches to prove a point?)

If presented as a training drill, and not a "legal pitch",
most girls can understand this, and translate what they've learned into their normal game delivery.

I see no risk of a girl not being able to make a legal pitch after working this drill for extended periods.
The focus of this drill is learning about the proper sequence and body position of Drive,
and it is very effective in teaching just that. I believe that the drill is purposefully exaggerated (and therefore "slightly illegal") to help engrain the feeling of proper drive. Once engrained, it's pretty easy to work the pitcher back into a legal delivery.
