In Scarborough's own video, where she describes all the pitches, she clearly does NOT HE, and she calls it the pistol finish or something like that, IIRC. You may disagree with that, but she does not teach HE. She may roll the first finger out and hand across the body just like she demonstrates, but that comes from the fingers down to across position.

Please watch it before you condemn here. Instructors should not feel the need to slam real pitchers who are/were out there everyday pitching when many instructors have not pitched a game. There are other ways to get your point across. Wow.

PS> Why would she teach something different in person than on her many videos? She reviewed her own videos I am sure many times (during school and the ones she publishes), so she knows what she is doing. I think people are looking for HE and want to find it. Just let it go. It's dying on its own.

Not sure anyone asked you. And I don't see anyone slamming her.

Interesting, the release action she shows/describes.......I've always thought with a fastball the fingers were directly behind the ball at release. She seems to be showing a bullet spin release. Tried slowing down her actual pitch and to the best of my viewing it doesn't look like she is performing the same movement she described.

Anyone else see any differences in description and actual pitch release action?

It's a bullet spin release in her demonstration.

Again, I think she goes back to what she was taught as a youngster when she teaches. I'm not sure who her original PC was, but she is from the Houston area and her and my DD have pitched against each other since 10u and bullet spins were the predominate spin taught by most PC's in the area at the time she was learning.

The reason why many PC's dismiss drills beyond anything besides a teaching point, is because the motion in drills does not translate well to what happens in the full motion. Watching an elite pitcher demonstrate a drill does not equal watching an elite pitcher pitch. You may as well have the pitcher show you how to paint a rainbow and explain how that equates to pitching.

I've amassed an impressive video library over the years, and of the 92 slow-motion videos I have of Finch, I've never seen an HE finish.

I'd love a peek at the current library! Heck, I'd be thrilled with the old one!

She always did IR in games.

In her instructional videos, she does the HE finish.
