hmmmmm, wonder of she practiced doing the crane, ----RHP drivinig off her right leg, with Stride foot up off the ground and she Drives off her right foot/leg which wouldn't allow her to Pre-Turn.

I've often knelt down behind a pitcher and slightly TUGGED on the back of her sweats leg or back of sneaker of her pivot foot, but that is to work DRIVING, similar to Bungy Cord

I think video is the best tool. Just video the feet and show her what she is doing. I use the 1 foot starts to get her to feel the straighter push foot. Pretty hard to turn that foot in this drill. If your gonna do this drill tell the pitcher if she loses balance to start over. We always want a solid balanced lower half. It's good to hear other agreeing on the importance of a straight push foot. There is a reason a sprinter keeps foot straight and heel up.

DB: agreed... Video is best tool to show and breakdown mechanics for coaches and athletes.... too many times you can pick something up on video or a player needs teh video to be convinced of thier mechanics......

Turning Right Leg / Foot

Buy a small Wheel Choke ( Auto Parts Stores sell small ones 4 inches high )
Have her start with her right foot on it. This helps her push forward and drag on her toe without turning to soon. There is a brace made that wont allow her to turn her foot for the first 4-5 inches. A guy in Texas makes them. I will try to get you the info.
Hope this helps

I don't know what a Wheel Choke is, but it sounds interesting. Another pitcher on DDs team plants her RIGHT HEEL into the ground after she pushes forward, instead of going directly to dragging her toe...her dad says they are constantly working on it and can't get it right (probably been doing it a long time now)...this sounds like something that might help!

You can place it next to her right foot so she feels herself hitting it if she turns. I do the same thing with a ball.

One other thing to try to help her get the feel is insist she pull her glove hand back behind her as far as she pulls her pitching hand. You can't turn your body if your glove arm is going back like that -- at least not easily. This doesn't have to be a permanent change, but I've found it is helpful for getting the feel of where the body should be. Until the pitcher can feel herself turning she's going to have a hard time changing it.
