My daughter just cant seem to get the feeling of I/R she basically keeps your arm straight and more or less pushes the ball at release. I have read all the I/R classromm threads and many others.

"Reading" the I/R in the classroom thread won't help you.........DOING THE DRILLS will.........

It is ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE to do the the "lock it in drill" with a straight arm..........

IF you do what is explained in the "unlock it" drill.......The arm cannot be straight.......

Allowing the elbow to release from the side SLIGHTLY as we E/R the forearm and wrist to 9:00,

These drills are DESIGNED to train "bent elbow" bio-mechanics to throw the ball..........

The liberty drill has the upper arm level to the ground and the forearm almost vertical to the sky......Elbow bent to approx. 120 degrees.

So I believe you when you said you've "read" the threads.........I'd suggest you stop reading and start doing.......

These 3 progressive drills are the fastest way I know of to allow a student to LEARN AND FEEL I/R WHIP........Do them often......And do them CORRECTLY every time..........

Don't do anything else with the motion until she can throw at 75-100% effort from the liberty drill position WITHOUT the bio-mechanics breaking down.........

Now get out there and teach your kid to WHIP the ball.........

Sorry to continue the hijack, but I was just thinking that when skipping rocks, the forearm starts supinated and really doesn't rotate much relative to the upper arm--all the way through release.

Side note: I have recent photo on a memory card of older DD skipping a rock in Montana. Her arm appears to be either dislocated at every joint, or made of rubber!

I have the sudden urge to go practice the drills and I don't even pitch.

I agree that skipping stones require's some killer whip, but I dare you to try it starting palm up! ;)

The killer whip is created by EXternal then INternal rotation of the humerus (bicep)...........It trains the portion of I/R above the forearm......Which is where is all starts..........

Ok we will get back at it. She does do the drills but like you said we will stick with just those until she gets them correct all the time before we go to full motion since thats when its seems to break down.

Gotta find that pic of DD skipping rocks. If you want to see elbow leading, it definitely demonstrates that. It also seems to defy nature!
