I am really just curious now....not being accusatory....but....you really didn't answer my question about whether or not you ever strategized about a specific player to get them on this path you describe and had to make sure they signed up for little league, maybe they played a minimum number of games etc.... basically have you ever needed to consult and review the rules looking for a way to include a player that under all normal circumstances probably would not have played in your league and started on this path, or do you just take what you get from the league and you've never discussed with a parent/player/coach a way to get a girl included?

Maybe some people don't understand what LL Allstars is about... Allstars is for the girls that ARE better, worked harder, played more, worked with mom or dad in the backyard. It's not for every girl that signs up in march. There are tryouts to make the Allstar team, regardless whether she plays TB or not, our board does not care. Whats wrong with rewarding that have worked harder girls with Allstars?

Do teams recruit girls to play LL then Allstars? I am sure, but what's wrong with that if they meet LL rules? I commend those girls and families for having some loyalty to their town.

LL is very strict in who can play Allstars and there is a ton of paperwork to prove each girl is eligible. LL Allstars has been around a long time so there are plenty of rules. She has to play at least 60% of the regular season games, birth certificate, 2 proofs of residency, a map showing our town limits and where this girl lives within the boundary. And believe me, our district, they check everything to make sure there's no cheating.

Sorry JJ - was on my phone for my previous posts so sorry I didn't elaborate sooner (I can't stand posting from my phone, what a PITA)....but no, we absolutely do not strategize on how to pull talent from other communities. Not only would it be wrong, but it just wouldn't be worth the trouble or effort for us. We have a decent pool of girls in our LL, so in that regard we are very lucky. Our SB LL program is growing yearly, probably due to the fact that we dedicated so much of our time and effort to the girls in our community to come up with a developmental TB program for the more competitive girls in our LL. This upcoming spring will be the first year our LL program will field a 10/11U Allstar team, providing even more opportunity for the girls in the rec league to make an Allstar team.

And what packhand above posted in the last paragraph of his/her post is absolutely how things are run in our district, also. It would look very, very bad for a LL to be found cheating or fudging info by their district BOD, and would most likely cost them their charter. Just not worth it to risk an entire LL for the slight chance to make it to the LLWS, IMHO.
