Ok, first off I know that mechanics do matter. But as my DD and I were watching the H.S. All American game, she asked me the question... " do mechanics even matter? why do I work so hard at the proper mechanics when so many very good pitchers have horrible mechanics?" Now of course she asked this as soon as we saw Dallas Escabedo pitch. Not to knock her at all as her wins speak for themselves. But her mechanics? she doesn't open in the least bit, what kind of damage is that doing to her shoulder? And thus the question, "do mechanics even matter?" either you got it or you dont? Just thought I would throw this out there for discussion.

In the long run, your DD is going to be able to brush her hair with her pitching arm, when she is 40 YOs. And, she can avoid surgery.

Also, your DD is going to be able to attempt many other pitches by starting out doing the right things.

I do not know Dallas E., but I think she is in Phoenix. I am betting that she was taught correctly and has went from there. What pitches was she throwing? Because, she might not be throwing the fastball and that is what you are used to looking at.

she was throwing a drop curve, and a rise I think, I was taken aback when I saw her, I didn't think it was even possible to pitch like that, amazing.

The elites (Abbott, Finch, Osterman) and most good pitchers have similar mechanics. There is some variation, but not as much as you might think. When you are just starting to get into pitching, it is sometimes difficult to see the similarities.
