I don't see a problem there. She has 2 slight loads forward, but they are very slight.

Just a note. My pitcher DD had to have her gall bladder out at age 17. We ran around for weeks, trying to figure out her back pain. The first stop at the ER misdiagnosed it as a urinary track infection. The test for gall bladder was simple and conclusive.

I will keep an open mind about this that's for sure.

The ortho DID inject I think Lidocaine into the muscle knots. Not sure about the goodness with this but DD did say it gave some relief.

Hi Ken,

although the repoort was specifically written for the safest mechanics fpr the female shoulder complex, it is also the best for the lower back You want the entire body on a forward lean AS you start your push off. All that enbergy is absorbed in the entire body. Standing tall at the start of the push off, siumply put, the lower half is driving forward and pulling the upper half along for the ride. Where is all that energy absorbed; lower back.

Same thing in reverse for when the landing foot touches down. If the body is on a slight backwards lean at landing foot touchdown, that energy is absorbed by the ankle, knee and the leg muscles. Let the body's shockabsorbers do their job and THEN stand tall a few milliseconds AFTER landing foot touchdown. That is how 'Standing Tall' is supposed to work.

Standing tall too soon at LFTD takes away from the resistance the lower body has to contribute to ball speed / spin.

This'll probably open a big can-o-worms here but, oh well. I have said this before; I am very poroud to say that no pitcher I trained EVER reported any injury from their mechanics while pitching.

The ortho said "pitch with your butt clinched".....

I get the message on pelvic tilt but is this really the ticket...?

I have to assume the good Dr meant 'Tighten the lower stomach muscles' to help protect the lower back from injuries. I would expect to hear that for a weight lifter more than for a pitcher, I think. I am imagining myself trying to pitch while trying to tighten my stomach muscles as much as I could. This would slow me down. My stomach muscles do tighten when pitching, but not a great deal and not as much that it required me to think about it.

Pinching the butt cheeks together would not work for me, not at all.

Just an old pitcher's opinion.

Ever put a few cans of STP in an engine to quiet the rod knock? Dont hear it anymore but the problem is still there.

What is the best maintenance plan for an achy lower back due to a core that is too weak? (we have already ruled out anything with the spine)

Chiropractor?

Before you try the above fix, you might try this one. They use basically the same medical techniques........
