Our DD began at 10. Went through instructors that were all "male" influenced and believers in male bio mechanics. Then we met Denny Tincher. Then we learned about "female" biomechanics and light bulbs went off everywhere. He's starting a revolution -- starting with his daughter who no hit Team USA and never allowed a ball out of the infield. Only 5'7" but dominant and set NCAA records. I see the testimonials and business plugs for Hillhouse. Seen his videos and there are a few similarities. The difference? Hillhouse talks about how "he" pitched, not how a female should feel when she pitches. My biggest advice: Ask lots of questions. Why wrist snaps when that's the weakest point on the female? Why K drills which create tension and hesitation in the upper body? Tincher Pitching will put you on the best path in my humble opinion. Props to Hillhouse too, though, for all his years of work. And to all of the instructors who continue to seek the best way to teach and train female athletes.

Oh dear lord here we go again with another bunch of "brand-new posters" and their lovefest with Mr. Tincher.

I don't want to belittle what his daughter did in that game. Because she pitched phenomenally. But it was one game!!! It had as much to do with USA playing poorly as it did her pitching exceptionally. I'm sure Hillhouse could come on here and talk about his greatest game. So could Hal. So could coachFP. So could Rich Balswick. Etc. And for my money I would rather learn from somebody who has "been there done that" then someone who seems to take credit for the hard work his daughter put in. I am not specifically referring to Mr. Tincher there I think there are a number of people who do that.

I for one have never heard Hillhouse Skinner, Balswick Talk about their male biology or anatomy when it comes to pitching. It's amazing how are kids are being taught to hit a ball like boys, run bases like boys, field a ground ball like boys, Throw overhand like boys, etc. but when it comes to pitching... Suddenly the differences are so great that most men can't understand or teach this properly.

If Mr. Tincher has that much insight into the female mind body and soul as you claim, Then he should be a marriage counselor teaching men all about the female species. Think of how many families he could save by teaching men all about women and their physiology.

Any minute now another brand-new poster is going to come on here and regurgitate the same thing that you just said. As if nobody can see through this ploy. LOL.

After you view all the video's and put in the work this winter go to Lowes or Menards. Find yourself the most comfortable chair they have. Make sure it has an umbrella and a cup holder. Next go to any convient store and buy a sleeve of red solo cups. When you get to the park run to the field your daughter will be on. Get your butt to LF or RF set up your chair, put up your umbrella pour your adult beverage into your red solo cup, shut your mouth, enjoy the game and tell your daughter good job on the way home no matter the outcome.

Side note.....Adult beverage optional, keeping your mouth shut is not.

"I for one have never heard Hillhouse Skinner, Balswick Talk about their male biology or anatomy when it comes to pitching."

Actually I have, on this forum. It's been a lomg while. To put it simply, the shoulder and hip alignments are quite different. Males, shoulders and hips are squared where females are sloped / rounded. This is why some male pitchers can get away with pitching and keeping everything squared to the catcher or nearly staying squyared, not opening the hips / shoulders at all. Females cannot get away with doing that without risking injury, they must get open in their motions.

The amount required is still a matter of great debate.

Get her a pitching coach, let the PC teach her, and continue to be her parent.

You're a grown adult, you will pick things up quicker then your daughter does, even though your daughter is the one doing the work. You will quickly feel that you are an expert because you picked things up "so fast" compared to an 11 year old girl, and you will most likely believe that you can teach the 11 year old how to pitch.

Don't do this.

Get her a proper coach, and enjoy the experience of learning along with your daughter AT HER PACE. Be there for her when she needs you. As a pitcher, she'll have plenty of people telling her what to do, how to do it, and what she is doing wrong. She'll need you to be dad or mom, not Coach23214.

I almost feel guilty posting on the OP's topic, since this has taken such a left hand turn. I find your post the most intersting snuff. Maybe I'm taking this out of your original context, so forgive me if I am. Parents can't be hands off of the training as you suggest. Just my opinion. DD's spend 30-60 minutes per week with their PC, on the more aggressive side. Some far less, some a bit more. I don't think a pitcher is "built" in that time frame. Much to the contrary, the successful pitchers that I know are the ones with the dedicated dad, or the dedicated mom that go to the sessions with the pitching coach and absorbs every bit of information that is conveyed and then uses the next "X" number of days until her next session with the PC to work on what is necessary. Basically telling them what to do as you advise against. I don't leave a lesson without asking her PC what she wants her to work on this week. I strongly disagree with your advice here, sorry. Every good pitcher I have seen in my experience has a mom or dad that is VERY involved in their development. Look in the rearview mirror. Were you a hands off parent? Did you never sit on the bucket and tell dd what she's doing right or wrong? I often joke with my wife when she comes downstairs and throws her 2 cents in about what she thinks dd is doing well or doing poorly that HER job is to be the sane one of the group. I'll be the crazy softball dad. You just be mom. Once again snuff, just a friendly disagreement in your advice. As a parent you're not coach 23214, you're coach @2. If anything, teach dd that there are 2 people she listens to. #1 Her PC, and #2 you, who is only regurgitating what #1 taught her.

One game? Haha. Not so knowledgeable on the subject of pitchin. NCAA player of the year and 3rd all time in strikeouts despite missing most of her freshman year--otherwise, probably tops all time. If you're really curious, you'll go hear him speak. OR, just keep right on wrist snappin and glove slappin and killin girls' speed...and tearing shoulders apart with upper body MALE tension. He has dozens of students that he's just rehabbin alone.

Are there a lot of people stalkin around in here like Curious George? Hatin on new posters? I'd be curious to know how many people post and never come back due to folks like that. Maybe change the name of the forum to CuriousGeorge'sNarrowMindedViewsAndUnwillingnessToReallyDiscussAnything.com? TINCHER IS THE BEST, AND THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE. But sorry, CG, he doesn't sell videos like others in here. Every pitching discussion in here has somebody pushing Hillhouse vids. Is this a marketplace or a place for discussion?

Looooool. I love people who are here to sell their coach.

For the record I do believe men and women pitch differently. But I don't think one person knows everything.
